We are seeking a warm, energetic and innovative early childhood educator to join our Club Creative Aftercare program (2:00-6:00pm; ages 2-5) at PlayArts Creative Preschool (Our main location).

ROLE 

The Assistant Teacher (Assistant Group Supervisor) role is a part-time, year-round position that includes:

  • Assisting Lead Teacher with planning and prepping classroom lessons & activities (paid planning time is provided daily)
  • Coordinating daily activities and supervising children and aides in the absence of the Lead Teacher
  • Supporting Lead Teacher in classroom management of preschool children in the classroom and playspace
  • Assisting Lead Teacher with keeping records of students’ growth and development (physical, cognitive, socia/emotional)
  • Collaborating with Aftercare teachers as a team
  • Maintaining consistent communication with teachers and supervisors through team-wide platforms (ie. Slack, email, etc.)
  • Maintaining consistent communication with parents (in-person and digitally)
  • Attending weekly team meetings, Professional Development days, and some additional community meetings scheduled outside school hours
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly classroom and playspace
  • Assisting with cleaning, sanitizing, and closing duties of the facility
  • Diaper changing duties and potty training assistance for Older Toddlers that are just beginning in our program, as needed

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum HS diploma or GED; College degree preferred, Degree in Early Childhood Education, Degree in Arts Education preferred, Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, Music, Theater or Art preferred
  • 1-2 years classroom experience, depending on degree
  • Experience in Theater, Dance, Music or Art Instruction in an early childhood setting preferred
  • Must have PA State Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse Clearance, NSOR (National Sex Offender Registry), and FBI Clearance (Fingerprinting) prior to start
  • Must have Building Blocks (Health & Safety), Mandated Reporter (Child Abuse), and Fire Safety training prior to start
  • Pediatric 1st Aid & CPR training required within 90 days of start date
  • Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs
  • Potty Training (and diaper changing) experience preferred
