Young Audiences New Jersey & Eastern Pennsylvania

Calling all Assembly artists -- If you have a music, dance or theater performance that can electrify school audiences across New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania, we want to hear from you!

Young Audiences of New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania (YANJEP) is seeking new assembly programs for grades PreK-12, led by teaching artists who love not just sharing their artform, but educating children about it.

In our assemblies, students will Experience art performed and shared by professional artists. They will Understand the art form, its cultural contexts and creative processes. And beyond that, they will also Create through interactive participation and Connect program content with their personal experiences, other academic learning and/or life-skill development.

YA assemblies are typically 45 minutes in length and take place during the school day. Our artists are independent contractors whose programs are scheduled on a gig-basis.

Here's some of what our school partners are looking for:

TOPICS & SPECIALTIES

  • Character Education
  • Greek Mythology (Perseus, Odyssey, Sisyphus, etc.)
  • Science and Environment

ART FORMS

  • Instrumental Music (especially string groups!)
  • African Dance (especially in North Jersey)
  • Bollywood Dance Ensembles
  • Performance Poetry (grades K-6)

and more! -- Artists with bilingual Spanish-English programs and those who serve South Jersey are also highly encouraged to apply.

Learn more and apply at YANJEP.org/become-a-roster-artist or email summerdawn@yanjep.org. Submit by Jan. 7 to be considered for 2025-26.

Compensation Note: Assembly artists set their rates for each program. Young Audiences recognizes artists' need for equitable pay that supports their individual ensemble members, covers costs like time and labor, and makes the work a fruitful effort. YA does not take a portion of artist fees and also provides a travel stipend based on distance. The range included here is not restrictive, and reflects what most of our artists typically receive for one 45-minute show -- $500 for a solo performer, $1,500 for an ensemble.

To Apply

Learn more and apply at YANJEP.org/become-a-roster-artist. If you have questions, email summerdawn@yanjep.org. Submit by Jan. 7 to be considered for 2025-26.

Note: Artists whose applications are received after Jan. 7 will still be eligible, but they may not be included in print materials for fall 2025. All artists will, however, be included in digital materials as they are onboarded.
