Penn Live Arts

Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Associate Director of Marketing & Communications is a vital member of the marketing team overseeing the Penn Live Arts website, advertising initiatives, blog and promotional outreach. The associate director also provides key support in print and web material production, public relations, social media and overall department operations.

Essential Functions: 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with media sponsors and advertising representatives. In collaboration with supervisor, develop annual media sponsorships and agreements, overseeing fulfilment of deliverables. Handle media planning and implementation of advertising schedules.
  • Content management and regular updates of the Penn Live Arts website with an active focus on developing the website as an effective, clear and dynamic marketing tool. Monitor and report on website metrics to suggest strategies for improved performance.
  • Oversee print production process for posters, program books, digital display graphics, website graphics, postcards, signage, stationery and more for performances, promotional marketing initiatives and organizational needs. Assist in the graphic design of materials as needed.
  • Participate in overall promotional strategy in support of marketing and organization goals, including event facility promotion and annual giving communications. Work alongside Box Office to develop and implement sales promotions, packages and other marketing initiatives. Handle grassroots and partner outreach to determine arrangements and plans.
  • Manage schedule, content gathering, writing/editing and production for Penn Live Arts blog.
  • Contribute to content development and editing for the Penn Live Arts social media platforms.
  • Assist in coordination of public relations needs.
  • Co-supervise work-study students and interns.
  • Represent the Penn Live Arts marketing team at performances and community events.
  • Some evening and weekend work required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree required. Proven skills in marketing or a related field with a minimum of five years’ experience. Experience in and knowledge of the performing arts preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Proven ability to take initiative and think creatively
  • Experience with website development and maintenance
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required (Excel, Word and Power Point)
  • Knowledge of graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite) and basic video creation/editing required
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact positively in a team-oriented environment
  • Knowledge of Tessitura ticketing software a plus
  • Knowledge of and interest in the performing arts is preferred
