Summary:
Ensemble Arts Philly is seeking passionate and dedicated Teaching Artists to join our School Ensemble Program as independent contractors. Teaching Artists will be contracted to teach classroom studio-specific group lessons during the school day and coach ensembles before and after school, in alignment with the curriculum directed by our School Ensemble Program partner.
Essential Functions:
- Classroom Instruction: Teach group lessons in studios including brass, flutes, single reed instruments (clarinet and saxophone), percussion, high strings, and low strings.
- Ensemble Coaching: Coach student ensembles before and after school, fostering musical growth and ensemble skills.
- Lesson Planning: Develop and submit detailed lesson plans that align with the program’s curriculum.
- Student Evaluation: Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
- Instrument Management: Assist in managing the inventory of instruments, ensuring they are well-maintained and available for student use.
Qualifications:
- Professional experience as a musician in one or more of the specified studios.
- Training and experience in education, with a commitment to arts-based learning.
- Strong lesson planning, classroom management, and communication skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying skill levels.
- Flexibility to work during school hours and before/after school as needed.
- Experience working in diverse educational settings, including K-12 schools.
