PAFA is looking for our next Print Shop Manager! The selected individual must have a working history within printmaking and papermaking and a passion for working with art students of all ages.

Founded in 1805, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) is America's first school and museum of fine arts. Located in the center city of Philadelphia, PAFA is intimate in scale with a strong sense of community. PAFA offers several nondegree and certificate in studio art and art appreciation programs. PAFA's museum has an outstanding collection of American art, and the museum actively collects and exhibits contemporary art, including work in new media. Additionally, PAFA is home to the Brodsky Center, a print and papermaking center focused on the creation of innovative editions by contemporary artists.

POSITION: Print Shop Manager

Responsible for the needs of the printmaking and papermaking shops including safety, shop policy enforcement, cleanliness, maintenance of consumable supplies and shop equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Assist students in the proper and safe use of equipment and materials and enforce shop policies.
  • Supervise, schedule and delegate tasks to direct reports for special projects and events.
  • Communicate policy, meeting dates, workshops, department calendar and other relevant information to students.
  • Order supplies and maintain inventory for the department.
  • Report expenses bi-monthly to the department chairperson and maintain finance records.
  • Organize and teach workshops.
  • Plan and organize annual student events.
  • Report the shop condition to the department chairperson or Building Service Coordinator and follow up on maintenance needs of the print shop.
  • Ad hoc duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree with concentration in Fine Arts or Print Making
  • Strong portfolio of artwork demonstrating understanding and experience with printmaking.
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Computer literate
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Managerial or supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations
