JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Museum Greeter reports to the Visitor Services Manager and will welcome visitors in a friendly and courteous manner. The greeter provides informational and directional assistance to visitors entering and exiting the museum house tour.
Compensation: $15.00/hour - potential for promotion following 90 day probationary period

Work Schedule: Variable - Museum is open 10 AM - 5 PM, Tuesday - Sunday
Responsibilities:
- Greet visitor in warm, friendly manner at museum conservatory for self-guided house tours. Open doors to allow entry and exit.
- Check tickets to ensure visitor has house tour tickets and is entering at their reserved time
- Use POS ticketing system in read-only function to stay informed of expected visitors at each time slot
- Organize groups going into house and ensure that we are maintaining capacity standards
- Give orientation to house tour to include overview of what visitors will see, route, assist in download of accompanying tour app, etc.
- Ensure that visitors are aware of collection safety protocols and do not touch museum objects or enter with food, beverage, backpacks, etc.
- Assure that visitors are adhering to museum Covid policies
- Maintain tally of visitors entering tour at each time slot
- Answer basic questions relating to museum functions, locations, events and provide directions
- Keep supervisor aware of issues or needs – computer issues, brochure stock, etc.
- Have a basic understanding of Winterthur collection and procedures and policies
- Notify appropriate staff of any emergency situations with visitors or staff members at the conservatory
- Assure that the Conservatory is clean and tidy to present the best possible image of Winterthur.
- Attend training sessions to include taking of museum tours.
Requirements
Minimum Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, with 1 year of customer service experience
Preferred Experience: 2+ years customer service; experience in dealing with large crowds
Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong customer service skills
- Warm and friendly personality
- Ability to work with wide variety of audiences and speak in a clear, concise and sometimes loud voice.
- Able to multi-task and to remain calm and courteous under pressure
- Flexibility
- Decision making skills
- Basic computer skills
Essential Functions:
- Ability and willingness to stand for majority of a shift of up to 7 hours
- Be able to open and close heavy doors; ability to push/pull 20 lbs
- Be able to be outside in various weather conditions for brief periods of time
- Available to work weekends, occasional nights and holidays (including the 3 days following Thanksgiving and week between Christmas and New Year’s)
