Settlement Music School

 

Founded in 1908 Settlement Music School, a non-profit organization, is one of the largest community schools of the arts in the United States serving children and adults of all ages at five branches in Pennsylvania located in South, West and Northeast Philadelphia, Germantown, and Willow Grove, and its virtual branch, Settlement Music Online. Settlement provides over $2.7 million dollars each year in financial aid to 60% of its students and therapy clients. Settlement’s reach is broad, and it continues the principles of its Founders, that there be no barriers to participating in music and arts education. The Kardon Center for Arts Therapy is a leading Creative Arts Therapy service provider.

 

Specific responsibilities for the Coordinator position include:

  • Manage therapist schedules in cooperation with the KCAT Director using Ensora.
  • Conduct intake appointments and information sessions with current and prospective arts therapy clients.
  • Input all data about clients into Ensora.
  • Communicate with CBH and medical professionals for all Medicaid clients.
  • Work in collaboration with the Finance Department on all aspects of Medicaid client billing, invoicing, and documentation records in coordination with the Director and Branch Staff.
  • Ensure high level of communication with therapists and program staff.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) or Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC).
  • Must apply for Medicaid approval if hired.
  • Previous experience in providing Creative Arts Therapy.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Ensora, and Medicaid reimbursement preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse constituency.
  • Ability to think strategically and work collaboratively, and ability to manage multiple projects with a calm demeanor is a must.
  • Ability to be an outstanding advocate of Settlement’s mission.

  • Schedule includes regular evening and Saturday hours during school year.
  • Hybrid work schedule possible.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Coordinator hourly rate is $30 for 12-15 hours per week. Availability on Saturdays is a requirement.
  • Arts therapist individual hourly rate ranges from $42.25 to $50.45 depending on qualifications.
  • The position can qualify for the benefits outlined below if enough hours are met between weekly client sessions and administrative work.

Education Level: 
Must be Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) or Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC).
