About this Internship:
The InLiquid Internship Program will offer the experience of working in a nonprofit arts organization. Internships are designed primarily for undergraduate or graduate students, although open to anyone with a strong desire and commitment. Interns will work closely with InLiquid staff and will be involved with regular activities as well as special projects as needed.
The Audience Development Intern helps InLiquid connect artists and audiences in Philadelphia and gain an understanding of how a small non-profit organization serves the arts community. InLiquid is seeking to actively welcome our diverse local community to our free art exhibitions and programming. Through research, phone calls, email and in-person meetings, the Audience Development Intern will engage in direct community-building and local outreach to civic groups, businesses, apartment complexes, and schools to increase awareness of and participation in our free arts programming.
Hours:
This position involves a 3 to 6 month commitment, 12 - 16 hours a week. Hours and days are flexible within InLiquid’s M-F, 10 am-6 pm work week. While this internship is unpaid, academic credit may be received depending on the intern’s college program.
Responsibilities may include: The Audience Development Intern will report to the Development Director and participate with InLiquid communications and programming staff in designing and fulfilling outreach and community-building efforts.
- The intern will enthusiastically convey information about our mission and programming, growing strong, positive connections in the community, and learning about the needs and interests of neighbors and other local stakeholders.
- The Audience Development Intern will enter and update information about community contacts in our Neon CRM database and other systems so that we can maintain consistent communications over time.
- Reaching out to local businesses, the Audience Development intern will encourage them to participate in our events and support local artists through event sponsorships and shared promotional opportunities.
- Additionally, the Development Intern will help to draft and design event-specific emails, fliers, and printed and digital materials to share with neighbors and businesses.
- Maintain a regular schedule, be punctual, and work effectively in a professional manner.
Qualifications:
- The ideal Audience Development Intern will care deeply about the arts and be a strong communicator, as well as able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Experience in database or Excel is preferred but not required
- Candidates will have a background/interest in Arts Administration, Visual Arts, Communications, or another related field
- Strong writing and computer skills are preferred
- Design skills are useful, but not required
Our Philadelphia neighborhood is diverse and includes many Spanish-speaking families, a large Islamic population, and a growing number of young professionals moving into new luxury apartments. The Development Intern must be open-minded, compassionate, and aware of issues around diversity, equity, and inclusion. Spanish language skills are helpful, but are not required.
