JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Family Programs Intern supports Terrific Tuesday, Winterthur’s summer program for families with children aged 3 to 10. The intern works with Winterthur staff to design hands-on activities that engage visitors with Winterthur’s resources through imaginative and creative play. The intern will train high-school volunteers to lead those activities and will supervise their delivery on Tuesdays in the museum and on Thursdays at outreach events. Throughout the summer, they will document activities and collect participant feedback to evaluate the impact of on- and off-site versions of the program.

Terrific Tuesdays complement Winterthur's rotating exhibitions. The intern will work closely with museum staff and external partners to ensure each week’s activities highlight the stories of featured objects and artists while introducing visitors to both traditional and contemporary materials and means of making. In 2025 programming will connect with the upcoming exhibition Almost Unknown, the African-American Picture Gallery, inspired by William J. Wilson’s 1859 essay and guest curated by Dr. Jonathan Michael Square.
