Reporting to RAIR’s co-directors, the Director of Development helps design and implement all aspects of RAIR’s fundraising program including foundation support, annual giving initiatives, corporate giving, sponsorships, fundraising events, government grants and major gifts. The Director of Development works in close partnership with the Creative Director and the Managing Director to develop and advance strategic fundraising goals. They also support this work through their active roles working with the Board and Development Committee.

The Director of Development will join the organization as it pursues an ambitious strategic agenda to sustain its internationally-renowned artist residency program while expanding opportunities for local public engagement and impact. Initially, the work will include sustaining the organization’s current budget of around $500,000. Over time, we hope to catalyze growth in support that expands our ability to achieve our mission and impact. The interdisciplinary nature of our work creates opportunities to engage contributors across a range of interest areas, from arts and culture to environment sustainability, and community development.

The Nakashima Foundation for Peace is a 501(c)3 nonprofit formed in 1986 by George Nakashima, renowned Japanese American architect, woodworker, and leading figure in the 20th century studio craft movement. Originally formed to fulfill George Nakashima’s vision of building Peace Altars around the world, the Foundation has since expanded to preserve and share the Nakashima legacy. The Foundation is based at the George Nakashima Woodworkers campus in New Hope, Pennsylvania, and shares the Nakashima legacy with the world through stewardship, education, cultural exchange, and global peace initiatives such as the Peace Tables.

The Nakashima Foundation for Peace seeks a mission-driven Director to lead the organization into its next chapter. The Director will serve as the Foundation’s chief administrator and public ambassador, strengthening donor relationships, institutional collaborations, historic preservation partnerships, and community engagement.
