Teen Arts at Glen Foerd is a year-round program offered to high school students in Northeast Philadelphia. Teen Arts teaches students about history, art, research and stewardship in connection with Glen Foerd’s collection and mission. This program promotes independence and creativity, encouraging students to design a final project based on their interests over the course of 8 two-hour meetings. Each session culminates in a final exhibition that is open to the public. The program serves five cohorts of 12 students throughout the year, offering each student a stipend for their participation.
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as the Teen Arts Program Coordinator. This person will work with the Lead Teaching Artist and the Arts & Culture Program Officer to facilitate one session of Teen Arts in the Summer and one session in the Fall. Curriculum for the program will be provided, and the Program Coordinator is encouraged to adapt it as they see fit. The Program Coordinator will also be responsible for managing the enrollment process, maintaining accurate student records, and ensuring smooth communication with parents and staff. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining an inventory of supplies including sourcing materials as needed. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with youth and is excited by Glen Foerd’s mission. Teen Arts at Glen Foerd is funded by the William Penn Foundation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as program co-facilitator alongside the Lead Teaching Artist and the Arts & Culture Program Officer, and participants of the Glen Foerd Teen Arts Program.
- Work 5 hours per week on site to fulfil the following administrative duties:
- Track incoming applications and brainstorm outreach strategies with the Arts & Culture Program Officer.
- Send acceptance emails to selected participants and follow up as necessary to collect participation confirmations.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of all applicants and selected participants.
- Communicate with parents regarding program schedules, necessary enrollment forms, and other relevant information.
- Work with the Lead Teaching Artist to keep an updated inventory of supplies.
- Order additional supplies as needed.
- From July 28 to August 20, 2025 (four weeks), facilitate meetings on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10am to 12pm using curriculum provided by the Lead Teaching Artist.
- From October 22 to December 10 (eight weeks), facilitate meetings on Mondays from 4pm to 6pm using curriculum provided by the Lead Teaching Artist.
- Collaborate with the Lead Teaching Artist and the Arts & Culture Program Officer, as well as Teen Arts Program participants, on the execution of individually or collectively designed final projects.
- Manage exhibitions featuring final projects from the Summer and Fall program participants
- Attend planning meetings as needed with the Lead Teaching Artist and the Arts & Culture Program Officer and take part in shaping the curriculum of the program.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Interest in art history, American history, environmental stewardship and a variety of artistic mediums.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Must be able to provide a Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check, a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services, and a Federal Criminal History Record (FBI fingerprint check).
