The Gift and Records Specialist is a key member of the Institutional Advancement department’s fundraising operation who supports alumni and donor relationships by ensuring the accurate management of gifts and pledges.  With limited supervision, the Gift and Record Specialist, working across multiple platforms and financial institutions, accurately and efficiently processes gifts and pledges for Temple University and its affiliate organizations.  These gifts include but are not limited to one-time donations, reoccurring monthly gifts, company matching and complex gifts including securities, paid matches, and Donor Advised Fund (DAF) gifts for over 350,000 constituents totaling over $100M annually.  The Gift and Records Specialist will assess each gift and pledge to ensure accurate processing and appropriate documentation for donor tax purposes. These positions will also independently research and resolve problems related to identifying and processing gifts and pledges in an appropriate manner. The position creates and/or updates critical bio-demographic information of alumni and donor records in the University database. This role also ensures proper security measures are followed while handling cash and physical checks. This is currently a hybrid role but could easily be on campus full-time in the future. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

At least five years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred: Working knowledge or Ellucian’s Banner database or other similar system; comfortable working with numbers; understanding of fundraising.

Experience in financial services industry or banking.

  • Must possess an ability to communicate effectively, manage work independently, and use initiative and solid judgement in the performance of work.
  • Must have an uncompromising attention to detail.
  • Must demonstrate the highest level of ethics and ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, smoothly switch from one task to another and work on multiple assignments as necessary.  Must be flexible when the need arises.
