POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Senior Director of Philanthropy (Senior Director), the Annual Giving Manager designs, implements, and evaluates a new annual giving program to grow support for the Museum. Please Touch Museum’s (PTM) annual giving program is poised to grow considerably to support operating and program needs, provide predictable revenue forecasts, and organizational growth opportunities in anticipation of the Museum’s 50th anniversary in 2026.

The Annual Giving Manager provides exceptional administrative oversight of donor recognition and gift acknowledgement processes as administered by the Database Coordinator. The Annual Giving Manager leads constituent engagement efforts with an ability to leverage various tactics and communications channels. They lead, with the Senior Director, the building of a culture of philanthropy that underpins contributed revenue growth.

The Annual Giving Manager works independently in a fast-paced work environment while managing multiple priorities. This individual excels at anticipating and proactively overcoming challenges as they arise, is a team player, values precision, and handles confidential information with discretion. They deliver excellent customer service and work across the Museum to leverage every philanthropic opportunity to PTM’s benefit.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide department-level leadership as a member of the Museum’s Management Team.
  • Lead cross-functional collaborations with the Marketing and Communications Department, Museum Learning, and Events teams.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Annual Giving

  • Conceptualize and drive an innovative annual giving strategy with a foundation in annual appeals (<$500) and mid-tier gift development ($500–2,500) to increase annual fund giving and visitor participation in philanthropy.
  • Assess and improve efficiency of donor acquisition, retention, reactivation, and participation goals, applying best practices and data-informed decision-making.
  • Design and implement PTM’s annual giving day to acquire new donors, engage the community, provide volunteer crowdfunding opportunities, and increase broad-based donor giving.
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications and vendors to develop and implement direct mail, peer-to-peer, and electronic fundraising appeals.
  • Work with the database coordinator to build robust data sets and implement identification strategies to ensure success in meeting goals.
  • Resource volunteer philanthropy leaders (and colleagues who manage them), promoting peer-to-peer gift cultivation and solicitation.
  • Manage fundraising and donor stewardship events, including donor cultivation events and exhibit opening receptions, and support the P&A department’s work
  • Lead individual donor engagement: develop, implement, track, and assess creative and effective approaches to retain and reactivate donors.
  • Liaise regularly with the Senior Director and key staff to move individuals from a direct response prospect status to a “managed” prospect status.

Daily Operations

  • Monitor progress against fundraising targets, overseeing dashboards to report annual giving performance and drive strategy development, while communicating opportunities and challenges.
  • Design with Marketing and Communications a comprehensive solicitation calendar that interfaces with an overall communication strategy.
  • Produce well-written, accurate, and timely correspondence such as contact reports, cover and thank you letters, e-mails, reports, and briefings in support of donor stewardship.
  • Manage budget for fundraising appeals, third-party resources, systems, and tools.
  • Partner with the Senior Director to proactively qualify/disqualify new prospects, designing engagement opportunities for these new relationships.
  • Demonstrate considerable professional independence, personal initiative, and the ability to respond to Museum constituencies effectively and quickly.
  • Manage budgets for programming activities as assigned.
  • Attend special events, stewardship events, and community events as a PTM representative.
  • Be a leader among the P&A team, sharing and collaborating with colleagues in a respectful and professional manner while contributing to a healthy and positive work environment.
  • Act as a backup representative for other P&A staff as needed.
  • Other activities, special projects, and duties as assigned by the supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of progressive fundraising experience and a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to independently and collaboratively develop strategies and plans that integrate with PTM’s values and goals.
  • Possesses strong organizational skills, managing competing priorities and deadlines, and is flexible in response to changing situations and priorities.
  • Builds trust with colleagues by acting with integrity, owning mistakes, and holding oneself accountable; takes initiative to prioritize and complete work with minimal supervision within the agreed-upon timelines.
  • Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and 365 required; experience with project management software a plus; openness to new programs required.
  • Previous CRM system experience required; Blackbaud/Altru knowledge desired.
  • Ability to travel locally as needed for special events and donor visits. Some evening/weekend availability needed for donor activations and special events.

  • Must have PA Act 153 clearances (PA criminal history, FBI fingerprints, and PA Child Abuse) completed prior to hire.
