Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Manager is responsible for managing media relations and communications activities, including writing and editing publicity materials, proactively pitching and placing stories, maintaining media contact databases, ideating and executing promotional opportunities with the goal of garnering earned media, and coordinating onsite press events, filming, and photo shoots.

This position is responsible for daily systems operations of the building including repairs and/or replacement of various building-related mechanical, electrical, plumbing, control systems, air handling units, and heat exchangers. Receives and responds to service calls, takes immediate action to resolve emergency situations and system breakdowns. Manages and monitors HVAC controls, emergency systems (e.g., fire, smoke, security), lighting systems, electrical, and plumbing.

This position is part of the AFSCME Local 397 bargaining unit.

The Digital Content Intern will support the Social Media Manager and Digital Content Manager in the Communications department and work closely with the Marketing department.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:

Assist the Social Media Manager with content ideation, development, scheduling, and production for organic and paid social media.

Assist the Digital Content Manager with writing and editing web copy as well as building and updating pages through the Museum’s website CMS (Twill).
