Job Description:
The part-time Facilities and Grounds Technician will report to the Facilities and Grounds Manager to assist in the care and maintenance of Woodmere Art Museum and its grounds, located on 10 acres in Chestnut Hill. Its buildings include the main historic mansion with galleries and offices, a residential building used for storage and back-of-house activities, a carriage house art studio, and a fourth property undergoing major renovations to showcase another 14 galleries of the Woodmere permanent collection, opening November 2025.
Responsibilities:
- General grounds maintenance - light pruning, weeding, seasonal planting, debris removal;
- In the late spring and summer months water grounds as needed;
- Maintenance duties - per work order tickets;
- In the late fall and winter months salt and light shoveling/snow blowing of sidewalks;
- Open and/or close Museum and ensure the security of the building both at the start and close of business;
- Assist with event setup requests.
Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License;
- Background checks and clearance required;
- Grounds keeping experience;
- Able to lift 50 lbs.;
- Working knowledge of MS Office;
- Pleasant disposition interfacing with the public and communicating with visitors to the Museum.
Preferred, but not required
- Experience with minor repairs in electricity, plumbing, and/or equipment management;
- Historic renovations;
- Event set-up and take-down experience;
- Audio Visual experience;
- Experience with museums and event spaces.
This is a position with hours that includes weekends on a consistent basis. The successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to be trained to understand the Museum’s facilities, grounds, and general operations. A demonstrated passion for the arts, the work of the museums, and/or institutions of public service is preferred.
