The Digital Content Manager will conceptualize, develop, and maintain content for the Museum’s website and other digital platforms using market trends, audience insights, and keyword research to deepen and broaden engagement in fulfilling the Museum’s mission in alignment with strategic initiatives. This position reports to the Director of Communications.
The Digital Content Manager will work collaboratively across the organization and with external stakeholders to meet the evolving content needs of the Museum. This position will include keyword-focused writing and editing, proofreading external communications, and producing and maintaining content within the website CMS. They will work closely with the Digital Product Manager to identify, plan, and execute content needs; support special digital projects, and manage relationships with external digital vendors.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee content creation and brand storytelling activities for the Museum’s website including developing and upkeeping an editorial calendar based off of analytical data and research. Strategize and develop engaging keyword-rich content across the Museum’s digital platforms.
Work closely with the Digital Product Manager to maintain best practices for page creation and publishing on amrevmuseum.org, as well as other digital platforms, ensuring optimal experience, accessibility, and a consistent institutional voice across media.
Collaborate with the marketing and communications teams to ensure digital content aligns with the Museum’s brand engagement strategies.
Work collaboratively with the Digital Product Manager to track, analyze, and report on all site metrics to develop strategies for increasing digital impact, engagement, and traffic.
Collaborate with stakeholders across the Museum to gather, write, edit, and publish narrative website content via the CMS.
Manage special projects as needed and support the development and execution of digital initiatives.
Proof external communications for release on a variety of digital platforms, including email marketing, paid and organic social, and Museum and partner web content. Ensure that these communications adhere to Museum style and brand voice guidelines.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Digital Media, keyword rich and web content writing, or a related field.
Experience/Skills
3-5 years of experience managing content and production for a museum, history organization or other nonprofit arts organization preferred.
Exceptional communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Understanding and passion for SEO and data-driven analytics, including website analytics and user experience.
Experience with multiple content management systems.
Strong writing and copyediting skills, with a keen eye for consistency, accuracy, and detail.
Experience with A/B testing and content optimization.
Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team.
Excellent skills in project management, content development, and storytelling.
General knowledge of web development languages and tools such as HTML, CSS, XML, Adobe Photoshop, photo editing, familiarity with third-party websites and analytical tools (Google Analytics, Google Search Console, CrazyEgg) and major social media platforms desired.
Experience with photography and photo editing a plus.
