POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation is searching for a highly organized individual with strong communication and problem-solving skills to serve as an integral part of the Communications team charged with building brand awareness through digital and print communications. This individual will be responsible for initiating and managing the design and production process for multiple, simultaneous projects, and leveraging their experience to ensure that Free Library communications are printed/created and disseminated accurately, on time, and on budget.  Successful candidates will enjoy keeping others organized in a fast-paced environment, and will contribute to the Library’s aim to increase equity and inclusion in the institution and throughout our city.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Manage the design and print production of all Foundation-funded projects, problem-solving where necessary to ensure projects are on brand, on time, and  meet the project lead’s needs
  • Create and manage production schedules for all projects using a digital project management system, with support from project leads
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with printers, photographers, and other external production vendors to secure design specs, price quotes, and project timelines, ensuring a minimum of three competitive bids for all print projects
  • Serve as a member of the Communications team and help develop and carry through marketing initiatives from the brainstorm phase through completion, providing creative and logistical support
  • Create and manage the production of all Foundation emails, including the monthly Footnotes e-newsletter, with support from the Director of Social Media and Content Strategy
  • Serve as a key Communications liaison to the web department, initiating and coordinating new and updated content for Foundation support and programmatic pages, managing the editorial/approval process, and ensuring these pages are always up-to-date.
  • Contribute to maintenance of the Free Library brand through attention to language and visual representation during the production process, including our focus on accurately representing the diversity of Library patrons and our city.
  • Assist with additional communications projects, including writing, blogging, photography, and marketing partnerships as assigned
  • Other projects as assigned by the Director of Communications and Marketing

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • At least two years of professional communications and production/project management experience, preferably in the non-profit or cultural sector
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and pay close attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment
  • High degree of organization and the ability to plan, track, and execute projects on time
  • Commitment to working with a diverse group of vendors, especially Women- and Minority-Owned Businesses (WMBEs)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to coordinate with other staff, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and digital project management systems
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or English, or equivalent experience
