The Lansdowne Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) seeks a part-time Ceramics Co-Operator to join its Utility Works community. This position is fiscally unpaid, but trades studio space and access for assistance in visioning and maintaining Utility Work’s ceramic space.
Utility Works provides low-cost access to equipment, space, technology, and professional development for artists, makers, and entrepreneurs in Lansdowne, PA. By strengthening Delaware County’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, LEDC can assist early-stage makers, creators, and entrepreneurs launch and grow in this region. Utility Works offers co-working spaces to the broader community and studio space memberships for working artists.
As a community-centered organization, the LEDC is prioritizing a co-operator interested in fostering a collaborative environment where novices, hobbyists, and fine artists can all access and learn from each other. Experience with Programming is desired, and if the Co-Operator has experience and interest, paid teaching opportunities are also available.
What You'll Do:
Work 6-8 hours per week to help maintain the studio.
Perform basic cleaning and maintenance tasks around the studio (sweeping, mopping, dusting, etc.).
Reclaim clay and organize materials to keep the studio running smoothly.
Help ensure the studio remains a clean, organized, and welcoming space for artists and visitors.
Option to move teach classes in the future

Requirements:
Reliability, attention to detail, and proactive communication style.
A willingness to help maintain a clean and functional studio environment.
Experience mixing glazes and reclaiming clay
A Bachelor's in Art, concentrating in Ceramics, or commensurate life and work experience.
