As the producer of the Philadelphia Film Festival and creative force behind the Film Society Center Theater, Film Society Bourse Theater, and Film Society East Theater, the Philadelphia Film Society (PFS) raises awareness of film as an important art form in Philadelphia and serves as a vital piece of the city's arts and culture community.
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Human Resources, the Bookkeeper/Analyst will perform general bookkeeping and analysis tasks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform day-to-day financial transactions, adhering to nonprofit accounting standards and providing accurate and timely financial data.
- Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries and accounts payable and receivable.
- Process donations, grants, and other funding sources, ensuring proper recording.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and monthly accruals.
- Reconcile bank statements and assist with monthly closings.
- Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Track and report on grant spending, ensuring alignment with grant agreements.
- Process payroll and manage employee expense reimbursements.
- Perform ad hoc projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience in a nonprofit organization or similar setting.
- Expert in QuickBooks Online modules.
- Experience with Paychex or similar payroll software.
- Solid understanding of nonprofit regulations and accounting principles, including fund accounting.
- A successful track record in setting priorities.
- Keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills that support and enable sound decision making.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for PFS's mission.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
All selected candidates will be required to complete a Nonprofit Bookkeeping Assessment Test.
