Pay Range: $15-18 an hour
Position Description:
Through tours, exhibits, and programs, Roebling Museum tells the story of the origins and growth of a company town built in 1905 with a majority immigrant/migrant workforce. (More information can be found at Roeblingmuseum.org.)
The Program Assistant at Roebling Museum is part of a dynamic team of volunteers and paid staff whose goal is to greet and interact with visitors. This role will also help with administrative work related to programs, events, and exhibits. Relevant training will be provided.
This is a grant funded position is for the 2022 tour season (March-end of December) with the opportunity to renew.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assist in planning programs, events, and exhibits
- Greeting visitors and orienting them to the museum
- Using the point-of-sale system to take payment for tours and gift shop merchandise
- Opening and closing the museum
- Answering questions and gathering feedback
- Conducting tours and education programs
Job Requirements:
- Strong customer service skills to meet the needs of visitors of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of ability.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods both indoors and outdoors, lift 25 pounds, and climb stairs.
- Must be able to work a Thursday, Friday, Saturday schedule.
Qualifications:
- High school degree required; some college preferred
- Interest in U.S. history, industrial history, immigration history, or other relevant subject areas
- Customer service experience required, experience at a museum, archive, library, or similar institution preferred
- Experience with technology, including point of sale systems, Microsoft Office products
- A track record of dependability and punctuality with the ability to complete duties independent of supervision
- Strong oral and written communication skills
