The Science History Institute is currently recruiting for the full-time (35 hours per week) position of Oral History Collections Manager. The Oral History Collections Manager will be influential in developing sustainable, scalable workflows that will allow the Institute to increase capacity. The Oral History Collections Manager will process audio/video recordings and transcripts; communicate with interviewees; ingest materials donated to the Institute; and perform other tasks associated with creating and preserving these primary source materials. The Oral History Collections Manager will collaborate with the Institute’s open-source software development team to advise on new technologies for processing and ingesting the oral histories into the Digital Collections.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree or MLIS is preferred
- Minimum of three years of professional work experience in public history, libraries, or related cultural heritage
- Demonstrated experience with copyediting and applying editorial style guidelines
- Willingness to experiment with new technologies, including Sonix.ai, LLMs, and related technologies
- Some experience with metadata standards, controlled vocabularies, and library DAMS technologies, such as OHMS and Dublin Core
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Strong organizational skills and project management experience, with the ability to problem solve
- General familiarity with audio and video editing software, such as Audacity or File Maker
- Ability to participate in domestic travel (5%)
