Visitor Services Associate

Schedule: Part-time, 12-18 hours per week, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday
Salary: Hourly,  $15/hour + bonus for exceeding goals
Start date: January 7, 2025

 

Description

The Museum for Art in Wood engages, educates, and inspires the public through the exhibition, collection, and interpretation of contemporary art in wood. A dynamic, unique, and fast-paced organization, the Museum seeks a seasoned, motivated Visitor Services Sales Associate.

 

Reporting
The Visitor Services Sales Associate works independently and cooperatively with staff and reports directly to the Retail Manager.

 

Organizational Background
Since its inception in 1986, the Museum for Art in Wood, formerly the Wood Turning Center and Center for Art in Wood, has been widely recognized by artists, collectors, scholars, and the public as one of the most valuable resources for the education, preservation, and promotion of the field of art made from wood. The Museum currently houses over 1,200 permanent collection objects, and 25,000 artist files, and annually mounts four to five exhibitions of new work and museum collection objects.

 

Qualifications
The successful candidate will be experienced, motivated, customer service oriented, and excel in high-end retail sales. The Visitor Services Sales Associate serves as an ambassador for the organization’s mission and vision. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in the arts and cultural organizations, particularly in museum or gallery sales.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities for the Visitor Services Associate include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring Store and public spaces, including exhibition gallery and permanent collection mezzanine
  • Collaborates with Marketing and Social Media
  • Art and merchandise sales with bonus for meeting goals
  • Networking with neighborhood design studios
  • Daily maintenance of all spaces
  • Excellent Sales, Writing, and Communication skills
  • Time-management skills
  • Ability to climb stairs, lift 25 pounds, and stand most of the day
