The Print Center, a nonprofit organization located in Center City Philadelphia, encourages the growth and understanding of photography and printmaking as vital contemporary arts through exhibitions, publications and educational programs. The Print Center is a locally, nationally and internationally significant gallery, as well as a significant community art and advocacy organization with an international outlook and a strong sense of local purpose. The organization has a $600,000 annual operating budget, a full-time staff of five with several additional part-time staff and an engaged Board of Governors. Additional information on The Print Center may be found at www.printcenter.org.
The Gallery Store represents almost 100 local, national and international printmakers and photographers, as well as a carefully curated selection of books and artist books. The Gallery Store Manager is responsible for all sales operations and Gallery Store programming. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Gallery Store Manager supports the work of The Print Center to increase the visibility and revenue generating capacity of the organization, to provide support and revenue to the artists we represent, and to encourage the collection of prints and photographs. The major responsibilities are as outlined below.
The Gallery Store Manager’s hours are 10am – 6pm Tuesday through Saturday and evenings as programming requires.
The Gallery Store Manager
- Is the first point of contact for all visitors and is responsible for greeting and providing information on exhibitions and the store;
- Manages all sales activities onsite and online, including shipping work to offsite clients;
- Generates promotional content for social media;
- Maintains existing and develops new relationships with artists;
- Maintains artist contracts, images and financial records;
- Acts as registrar for the organization;
- Manages administrative assistants and/or interns on Saturdays;
- Coordinates framing for clients;
- Is responsible for maintaining the Gallery Store facility and the artwork on display;
- Plans and coordinates special events related to the Gallery Store, including offsite art/book fairs;
- Coordinates organizational programming along with other staff members;
- Other duties as required, including supporting the annual benefit auction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Knowledge of contemporary art with an interest in printmaking and photography, background in studio print and/or photo preferred
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of social media platforms, Microsoft Office, Adobe, WordPress, QuickBooks and Shopify preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment
- Must be vaccinated against Covid-19
Compensation
- $39,000 per year to start, paid monthly
- Fully covered health, short-term and long-term disability insurance and term life insurance, after probationary period
- Generous vacation benefits, after probationary period of 90 days
