DiasporaDNA Story Center (DDSC) is seeking educators and teaching artists to join its inaugural Spring 2026 Education Advisory Council (EAC). This council will play a vital role in shaping culturally grounded, community-centered educational experiences rooted in our archives, multicultural festivals, and diaspora storytelling.
The Education Advisory Council is a collaborative, advisory body that supports DDSC’s mission by contributing expertise, insight, and creative thinking to the development of curriculum, field trips, and informal learning opportunities. Members will work closely with the founder and DDSC team to strengthen educational impact while gaining meaningful professional development experience.
Core Priorities
Education Advisory Council members will:
- Co-create curriculum centered Festivals with an emphasis on diaspora storytelling, and cultural memory
- Advise on educational goals and opportunities across programs and initiatives
- Collaborate on the design of field trips and extracurricular learning experiences for youth, families, and community groups
Who Should Apply
We encourage applications from:
- K–12 educators, higher education instructors, and informal educators
- Teaching artists working in storytelling, history, visual arts, cultural arts, or related fields
- Homeschool parents and Individuals committed to culturally responsive education and project based learning
- College & Graduate students with relevant experience related to education, teaching artistry, or cultural work
Applicants should be collaborative, curious, and excited to contribute ideas while working within an advisory (non-governing) structure.

- A monthly working lunch with the founder of DiasporaDNA Story Center
- Letters of recommendation recognizing advisory service and contributions
- Opportunities to participate in informal education teaching through DDSC programs
- Real-world hands on professional development, including curriculum design, program planning, and collaborative educational leadership
- DDSC Merchandise & Cultural excursion opportunities.
Commitment & Structure
- The council will meet monthly with additional optional working sessions or subcommittees as needed
- Participation expectations will be clearly outlined to ensure a meaningful but manageable time commitment
- Advisors will serve from January - May 2026 and eligible to renew for future seasons.
