About the Role: Kole Made seeks a skilled woodworker with a commitment to the craft and experience in the field. The ideal candidate thrives in creative, collaborative settings while being able to handle physically demanding work in a shop environment. Kole craftspeople also spend time in the field, installing millwork and performing occasional carpentry work. This position provides an opportunity to demonstrate and refine skills in fine woodworking, cabinet and furniture making, and renovation projects. No two projects are alike and will vary from bespoke cabinetry and built-ins to custom furniture pieces to unique bathroom vanities. Schedule: Full-time, Typically 8 am- 4 pm; occasionally onsite 7:30 am -5 pm (Monday-Friday)
Hourly Rate: $22-$25 commensurate with experience
Location: 3060 W Jefferson St, Philadelphia, PA 19121

Key Responsibilities:

Fabrication: Execute fabrication tasks, following cut lists or shop drawings to accurately break down plywood and mill lumber. Problem-solve custom and specialty projects as needed.

Installation: Install cabinetry and built-ins with supervision as required.

Finishing: Sand projects and apply finishes as per client specifications (including both spray and hand-applied techniques).

Material Handling: Lift and move plywood, lumber, and finished projects.

Construction Work: Perform occasional on-site construction tasks with supervision as needed.

Quality Control: Perform quality control on individual tasks, ensuring they meet Kole Made’s standards. Bring any concerns to the attention of the Shop Lead.

Inventory Management: Keep track of inventory and inform the Shop Lead of consumables that need replenishment.

Safety & Maintenance: Perform all tasks while following safe practices and utilizing proper PPE. Maintain tools and equipment both on-site and in the shop. Maintain a clean and safe work environment throughout the day.

Tasks and Teamwork: Collaborate and complete tasks as assigned by the Owner or Shop Lead, that meet company objectives.

 

Requirements:

Woodworking Experience: Minimum of 2+ years (other experience levels considered).

Physical Ability: Stand for extended periods, squat, climb ladders, and frequently lift materials and equipment up to 50 pounds.

Driver's License is required: With the ability to drive a work van upon request. 

Tool Proficiency: Skilled with shop tools, including saws, sanders, routers, and hand tools; experience with sanding and applying finishes.

Precision: Proficient in shop math, capable of measuring up to 1/32 of an inch.

Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret shop drawings (Sketchup or Mozaik).

Adaptability: Ability to pivot between projects and maintain high standards under varying demands.

Organized: To execute work effectively, one must be able to remain neat and organized in the shop and on-site.
