Museum for Art in Wood

Last year The Center for Art in Wood celebrated its 30th anniversary as one of the leading international non-profit organizations working to advance art in wood. The Center maintains a vital exhibitions program, has built a diverse collection including a library and archive, engages in publishing (on-line and in-print) and has established a widely respected international woodworking residence program. Housed in a newly renovated facility in Old City Philadelphia, the Center currently operates with a staff of seven.

 

The Center seeks a volunteer for a 6-8 month project in the organizational archives, who will work closely with the Center's founding director 1 – 2 days a week.  The ideal candidate will have a lively interest in wood art, sculpture, contemporary craft or design. He/she will work with the director to organize and file images, publications, and documents and to edit and upload descriptions of artwork to the database.  

 

Qualifications:

Familiarity with Museum PastPerfect Software or other museum database programs and archival management is preferred but not required.

Completion of a minimum of 2 years of college, pursuing a related BA/BS degree with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Ability to carry document boxes up to 20 lbs.
