Purpose:
The Community Liaison is the community organizer for the virtual Equal Justice Center (EJC)
project, responsible for building and maintaining relationships with the people of Philadelphia to ensure
community voices are a driving force in the design process, as well as during development,
implementation, and beyond. The role is responsible for organizing and executing community events,
attending local meetings, and networking functions, and promoting the virtual EJC project. The ideal
candidate will be outgoing, organized, have a deep understanding of the communities to be served, and
the ability to effectively communicate EJC’s message to many audiences. The Community Liaison’s work
hours will be flexible and may require attending community events on nights and weekends.
Essential Functions:
• Develop and maintain relationships with key community members, including community leaders,
librarians, public officials, local business leaders, and media representatives.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the virtual EJC in the community, responding to
inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Plan and implement community outreach initiatives, such as listening sessions, events,
programs, and workshops designed to engage the community in the design, development and
implementation of the virtual EJC.
• Ability to document and summarize key information and data from community sessions and
communicate it in an effective way to stakeholders of the EJC work.
• Develop and distribute educational materials about the virtual EJC and its programs to various
audiences.
• Draft and/or contribute to articles, press releases, and other content to generate positive
publicity for the virtual EJC project.
• Monitor local news sources and social media platforms for mentions of the virtual EJC and
proactively address any negative sentiment.
• Keep abreast of developments in the community that could impact the virtual EJC and its
programs and communicate this information to relevant parties.
• Attend community meetings, forums, and events on behalf of the virtual EJC.
• Represent the organization at public speaking engagements and conferences.
• Serve as a resource to staff on matters related to the community.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the organization’s programs and services.
• Perform administrative tasks as needed, such as preparing reports and maintaining records.
• Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms
• Proficiency with budgeting, scheduling, and project management tools
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Education and Experience:
• 3 years professional experience in community organizing, product development, customer
insights, market research, stakeholder engagement, non-profit or similar role
• Familiarity navigating legal systems and/or government benefit programs strongly preferred
• Experience working with diverse communities
• Bilingual
• Experience with graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite)
• Experience planning and executing events
• Combination of education and/or experience given full consideration

Compensation: $60,000 per year
