Delaware Valley Grantmakers and the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance invite you to the second program in our Cultural Leaders series to introduce our members to the new cultural leaders in town. Meet the new faces, hear the new voices and explore the new visions that will help shape the region’s cultural and economic landscape for years to come. This program will explore re-envisioning the Parkway into a destination and its role as a public space. We will talk to new leaders on the Parkway and learn how they envision their institutions supporting this work.

P.H.D Course: Interpersonal Relationships in the Workplace with Ruth Roberts
Most of us have to interact with co-workers, shares common spaces collaborate and supervise or are supervised. All of these interactions have potential for tension so this course is designed to foster positive relations and avoid the inevitable pitfalls of workplace interactions. Among the topics discussed will be supervisory skills, performance management, feedback and criticism. You'll gain valuable insights into workplace behavior to be able to engender trust and motivate, developing a framework for understanding colleagues and supervisees.

Building your Nonprofit Brand with Patricia Le Pera
Every organization has a brand - the issue is whether they manage it. Many nonprofits talk the brand talk but few understand or harness its power. In this course, we will cover the basics of branding -- what really makes a brand; how branding can benefit nonprofits; who is in charge of the brand; and how can you strengthen it. We also discuss the power and pitfalls of Web 2.0 tools to position nonprofit brands cost effectively. Participants will emerge with a better understanding of how to shape and articulate a brand and also how to manage and evaluate branding strategies so that they support your message and your mission.

Managing the Contribution - From the Finance & Development Perspectives with Richard Przywara
If you have responsibility for fundraising or for finances in your organization, you are also responsible for stewardship and management for all grants, individual donations, and corporate gifts. Both finance and development professionals need to understand the budgeting process, the different requirements and expectations among the various gift vehicles, the management of expenses, the role of recognition, and the hard and soft rules of stewardship, in order to meet the full demands of your position. Proper contribution management means satisfying donors, regulators and program staff and creates opportunities for future gifts. Real world examples will enable you to understand budgets, manage expenses, create positive donor relations, trouble-shoot potential problems, and seal the deal for the future.

What Every Nonprofit Manager Should Know about Finances with Elizabeth Pilacik
Nonprofit managers are expected to be accountable for their program's finances, regardless of their previous accounting or finance education. We've designed this course to enable the non-finance professional to understand financial management basics and to interpret what financial reports say about the health of your program. It will take you through the basics of nonprofit accounting, including key terms, financial reports, reading balance sheets and income statements; audits and reviews; analysis of financial performance; basic internal controls; budget overviews and hands-on analysis of actual situations. You will walk away feeling more confident in understanding your organization's finances and able to address questions and make informed decisions.
