The Meyer Family Award for Contemporary Art, presented by Main Line Art Center in Haverford, PA in conjunction with the Betsy Meyer Memorial Exhibition, consists of an award of $1000 and a solo exhibition to each selected artist. Three artists are selected annually to receive the award and present a solo show. This award and associated exhibition program is an effort to support the talented contemporary artists in the region, to honor deserving artists in the field, and to encourage excellence and experimentation in artistic practice, presentation, and community involvement. Adult fine artists, who are not full time students, living in the Mid-Atlantic Region are eligible to apply. All mediums are welcome.
The 2016 recipients were Matthew Courtney (Philadelphia), Sun Young Kang (Bryn Mawr) and Zahra Nazari (New York) featured in Transformations in spring of 2016; the 2017 recipients of the Meyer Family Award for Contemporary Art were Paul Santoleri (Philadelphia), Joanna Platt (Philadelphia), and Kelley Donahue (New York), featured in Draw the Line in spring 2017. Winners are selected by MLAC's Board of Artistic Advisors and Executive Director. Artists selected to receive the award will be notified in January 2018 and the exhibition will take place in March/April 2018.
