The M. Powell Lawton Conference: Evaluating Neighborhood Programs: Measuring Outcomes, Determining Effectiveness
Philadelphia Corporation for Aging’s M. Powell Lawton Conference November 12
Focuses on Evaluating Neighborhood Programs
Philadelphia Corporation for Aging will sponsor its annual M. Powell Lawton Conference on Urban Aging on Thursday, November 12. This year’s event, entitled “Evaluating Neighborhood Programs: Measuring Outcomes, Determining Effectiveness,” will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at The Union League, located at 140 South Broad St. in Philadelphia. Evaluating programs is considered vital to measuring community impact and obtaining funding. The conference will provide small and mid-sized organizations with the background and tools needed to complete an effective evaluation of their programs and services with limited resources. Sessions include selecting appropriate outcomes; carrying out an evaluation; learning about helpful resources; and understanding what constitutes a reliable evaluation from the funders’ perspective. The conference is sponsored by Bravo Health, with support from the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania. Registration is $25 and includes lunch. Continuing education credits for social workers are available. Proceeds generated by the conference benefit the Emergency Fund for Older Philadelphians. Job Searching from the Inside Out: A Five Part Seminar
The internet has become an outdated tool for
job searching. Relying on it to find a job in this
economy is very, very risky..
Most people know how to job search using the internet, but in this job market the internet has been made obsolete. HR people are inundated with resumes and probably have literally thousands of resumes from which to select, if in fact they are looking at resumes at all. At times HR managers list jobs for compliance purposes. Managers who are hiring phone colleagues to find talent. Nowadays there is so much available talent you need to be visible to the managers and directors not the HR people!
Learning how to conduct an "active" job search
is what job searchers need to learn to get a job
in this market.
Most of us don't learn anything in high school or in college about job searching. When this economic crisis hit and the normal job searching methods have stopped working people are at a loss. Job Searching from the Inside Out teaches people how to conduct an active job search.
Many job searchers are impacted by the emotional
side of job loss, but don’t make the connection
between the emotions and their success (or lack thereof)
with job searching.
In the workshops I help people make the connections that remove the blocks which prevent them from finding a job
