Interpreting Financial Statements

This workshop covers the fundamentals of nonprofit finance in order to better equip nonprofit leaders and managers to interpret nonprofit financial statements and assess their organizations' financial health. NFF's approach seeks to demystify nonprofit financial statements and present financial information in a fresh and productive way. This session introduces the concept of nonprofit capitalization and how underlying core business models drive financial health. This program is intended for individuals seeking beginner/basic level information.

How to collaborate without loosing your identity (or your job!)

According to our nationwide survey of nonprofit leaders, nonprofits are continuing to respond to economic challenges and to act quickly to maintain services:  52% of nonprofits reported that they took steps in 2009 to collaborate with other organizations on program activities, while 12% implemented ways to collaborate with other organizations on expenses.

Join NFF’s Tom McLaughlin to learn more about nonprofit collaborations and mergers and explore:

  1. Why are organizations choosing to collaborate? What are some of the common benefits of collaboration?  What are some common myths about nonprofit mergers and why are they different from for-profit mergers?  How can nonprofits design successful collaborations?  What factors do nonprofits need to consider in assessing mergers or other forms of collaborative opportunities?
