Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture is seeking a Curatorial & Research Associate for the Philadelphia Arab History Project (PAHP), a multi-year initiative documenting and celebrating the histories of Arabic-speaking communities in Philadelphia through archival research, oral histories, and a public exhibition.
This hybrid role supports both research and curatorial phases of the project. Responsibilities include conducting archival research, collecting and transcribing oral histories, engaging community members, and helping shape a public-facing exhibition.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct archival research on Arab communities in Philadelphia
Design and carry out oral history interviews
Engage with community partners and attend project events
Organize and interpret materials for exhibition
Contribute to exhibition narrative and content development
Qualifications:
Background in history, anthropology, museum studies, or related field
Experience with research and/or oral history
Strong writing and organizational skills
Arabic language skills preferred (required for some candidates)
Timeline: April 2026 – Fall 2026 (with possible extension)
