Please Touch Museum is a non-profit organization seeks a Development Manager who is responsible for building, growing and stewarding an effective annual giving program including fundraising and donor cultivation events and developing and implementing plans to reach a broader base of donors. S/he will administer and oversee direct mail projects, donor/prospect research, relationship management, and stewardship. S/he will also manage donor events including the annual fundraising gala, donor cultivation events, and other important donor-related experiences throughout the year. Will work with the institutional advancement committee, board members, and with other departments in the Museum to meet the established philanthropy.
Annual Giving duties, but not limited to: Develop and lead a comprehensive annual giving program, including strategies to incorporate e-campaigns, giving societies, re-engaging lapsed donor and cultivating new donors, and increasing average gift amounts; work closely with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) to develop fundraising strategies; implement strategies to grow the philanthropic funding base; work with the Membership Department to cultivate identified prospects as donors; plan and implement multiple direct mail appeals annually; work with CDO and marketing/communications staff on theme and artistic concept; Serve as an active prospect identifier, targeting prospects for personal visits and moving annual donors through the donor pyramid into the next giving level; work with the Database and Development Services Manager to track gift/financial and biographical information on prospects and donors in Altru.
Special Events duties, but not limited to: Lead the planning and implementation of signature fundraising events; lead the planning and implementation of VIP cultivation events ; act as a project manager to ensure that marketing, program delivery, sponsorship, guest experience, and event content are in place and on track to meet goals; Work with the Database and Development Services Manager to ensure event delivery information is accurate; support budget development, tracking, and reconciliation for all event income and expenses; coordinate post-event tasks including the reconciliation of budget ; prepare for institutional advancement committee meetings, record minutes, and ensure follow-up
Requirements:
Bachelor degree required in fundraising, communication or management. ideally combined with non profit experience ; a minimum of five years of development and event planning experience; must possess knowledge of fundraising principles and practices; detail-oriented, with strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills ; aptitude for the management and effective use of information systems in support of a development program; must show initiative and independence; excellent organization skills with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands; strong self-motivation and the ability to work as a team member; commitment to maintain confidentiality and a high degree of accuracy; excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral.; ability to schedule, track and report on meetings and support high-level committees and board members; proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and donor databases; experience with Altru a plus; must be able to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed for events, along with additional hours during peak times or as required; understanding of best practices in the fields of development; understanding and execution of the donor cultivation process; understanding of current philanthropic trends and stewardship practices; pProven track record of proactive identification, cultivation and solicitation ; ability to analyze donor prospect research information to put together a solicitation plan; proven project management experience; strong writing and editing skills for various proposals; exceptional interpersonal and oral communication skills (public speaking, presentations) expected to serve as an ambassador for the museum’s mission and vision.
