The position will be responsible for managing and supporting outreach, communication, and partnered programs for the Department of Art, Architecture and Design, both internally within the university and with external constituents including prospective students, alumni, media outlets, and the range of community, corporate, industry, and foundation partners with which the department is engaged. By expanding and strengthening the department's network of external relationships, the position will also be responsible for developing and managing internship programs and placements for current and graduating students of the department, to improve overall student outcomes. Reporting to the Department Chairperson, the position will involve regular travel off campus, and will oversee wage and work study students that support the role and scope of the position. The American Philosophical Society's Library & Museum seeks to hire a conservator to perform conservation treatment for Library materials, with an emphasis on non-bound materials.

The Conservation Department at the American Philosophical Society is responsible for conservation treatment and preventive care of items found in the Society’s diverse special collections library. This growing collection currently includes over 14 million manuscript pages, 300,000 volumes and bound periodicals, thousands of prints and maps, and large audio, video, and digital holdings. The department is currently composed of two full-time conservators, one part-time book processor, conservation interns, and occasional volunteers.

This position aids in the preventive conservation of the collections and includes treatment and documentation of individual items such as manuscripts on paper and parchment, printed maps, ephemera, photographic materials, and graphic works on paper. Candidates will be considered at both the Assistant and Associate level, depending on experience.
