Job Description

The Program and Volunteer Coordinator reports to the Director of Development and Marketing and works collaboratively with all Glen Foerd staff and volunteers. They will develop and implement public programs in coordination with other staff members including the Environmental Coordinator; develop tours and events; plan, order and maintain program supplies; provide engaging tours of Glen Foerd’s mansion and estate; recruit, train, coordinate and evaluate program volunteers and docents; develop and implement program evaluations; create monthly reports of program revenue, expense and attendance; manage and provide ideas and content for program marketing efforts including social media, website, press releases and print materials; participate in all aspects of setup/breakdown, opening and closing procedures and staffing of programs, tours and events; assist with grant writing; serve as site supervisor on weekends, and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • BA degree in history, art, museum studies, education or closely related field; MA degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years experience in program development and delivery
  • Interest in cross-disciplinary educational approach
  • Knowledge of education theory a plus
  • Excellent customer service abilities, accuracy, enthusiasm and productive work ethic
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and social media platforms
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Glen Foerd
  • Ability to lift 30-50 lbs

Hours and Compensation

$20 per hour; 30 hours per week; Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and one additional weekday.   Non-exempt position.


Glen Foerd on the Delaware preserves and enhances the historic Glen Foerd estate and offers experiences that foster creativity, innovation, and an appreciation of the natural world. The historic estate is a public park owned by the City of Philadelphia and managed and operated by the Glen Foerd Conservation Corporation.

Located on 18-acres at the confluence of the Poquessing Creek and Delaware River, Glen Foerd is the only historic estate along the Delaware River open to the public. The combination of its waterfront location, historical context, and cultural landscape offers an exceptional opportunity to explore the intersection of art, history, horticulture and the environment. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and its grounds are listed on the Historic American Landscape Survey.

Education Level: 
BA degree in history, art, museum studies, education or closely related field; MA degree preferred
