Creative Arts Therapy Week Open House

Ever wonder what arts therapy is all about and who can benefit from it? The Kardon Institute for Arts Therapy opens its doors to the public and potential clients Thursday, March 24 for an evening of information, hands-on activities and displays that will explain how art, dance and music therapy help people with a range of disabilities.

Creative Arts Therapy Week was established by The National Coalition of Creative Arts Therapies Associations as a way to increase awareness of creative arts therapy. During a week in March each year, creative arts therapists sponsor special workshops, exhibitions, career days and other events to share their work with the public and other professionals.

Visitors can tour the center and see board certified and registered therapists leading dance, music and art activities in the institute studios, the computer music lab and music resource library.

Creative arts therapy students or those interested in pursuing a career in Music, Dance/Movement, or Art Therapy can also get valuable information from therapists and Kardon Institute staff. Light refreshments will be offered as well. For more information, visit http://www.kardoninsitute.org, or call (215) 637-2077.

If you're not using business planning to align organizational strategy with human, financial, marketing and other resources, you are missing the chance to optimize your organization's effectiveness and efficiency. This course introduces the processes of business analysis and planning, including financial and marketing analysis; defining strategic impact; establishing strategic priorities; projecting required resources; and establishing performance measures, as a practical approach to planning and organizational decision-making. Participants will work on an actual case study. Other course objectives include: understanding the concept of business planning and how it differs from other types of organizational planning; acquiring practical tools for analyzing your current program mix and evaluating the market and financial implications for new programs or ventures; and gaining knowledge of what to consider in assessing the full costs and benefits of creating programs or earned income ventures.

Got Social Media Questions? We've got Answers - March 9

Annie Heckenberger of Red Tettemer + Partners will be on hand Wednesday March 9th for an informal discussion and Q&A session focusing on social media tools and building social networks.

About Annie:

Annie Heckenberger is the Community Trailblazer, VP of Social Media & PR at Red Tettemer + Partners. A true pioneer in this space, Annie was blazing new trails, building online and mobile social graphs and hunting down digital cool way before everyone in advertising was blathering the words - social media. Recently she's been cutting new trails, igniting word-of-mouth and stretching the media landscape for clients like FOX, PBS Kids Sprout, PA Tourism and FlixFling. She knows her way around the blogosphere, Twitter, Facebook, ustream, Foursquare and a bunch of other web haunts we haven't heard of yet.
Before joining RT&P, Annie served as VP of Media and Emerging Media at Marina Maher Communications in NYC. In her 10 years at Marina Maher, Annie worked on brands like Cover Girl, Swarovski, Tag Heuer, Audiovox, Proctor & Gamble and Amazon.com. In her not so spare time Annie started the Philadelphia chapter of Social Media Club and helped plan TedxPhilly in 2010.

Ask an Expert is geared towards designers and entrepreneurs; but all are welcome and the event is free. Light refreshments will be served. Arrive early if you would like a tour of NextFab Studio facilities. NextFab Studio a membership-based, high-tech workshop and prototyping center, is Philadelphia's "gym for innovators".
