TEDxPhiladelphia 2015: And Justice For All

And Justice For All – the final four words of the Pledge of Allegiance – embodies the powerful theme of TEDxPhiladelphia 2015. The daylong multidisciplinary conference will bring together engaging speakers, performers, and participants to explore issues of access and equity, spark conversations that matter, and showcase great ideas for building more just cities.

Our interest in this phrase is not motivated by politics or blind patriotism, but by a deep belief in the directness and simplicity of its sentiment – the ideal of equality, social equity, and economic justice which is at the root of this country’s founding and its enduring and evolving identity and value. Liberty and justice, after all, touch on such important notions as access, fairness, opportunity and democracy as well as their ever-present threats. In this sense, the pledge is not just a piece of sentimental Americana, but a lens through which we may begin to refocus, sharpen, clarify, and reinvigorate the meanings of these fundamental ideals for Philadelphia, the birthplace of our nation and its democratic ideals.

Tickets are currently on sale. All tickets to the day-long conference include a full-day of talks and experiences, complimentary snacks, refreshments, lunch, and a post-event reception.

Find High Capacity Prospects Hiding in Plain Sight

Do you believe you have donors in your file with the capacity to do major gifts who aren't? Most organizations have high capacity donors hiding in plain sight. A whopping 40% of donors in a recent study admit to having greater capacity than they are giving.

But how do you connect the dots? What data do you have to inform you? Chances are you have valuable observational data about your donors not being mined. Today's technology allows us to collect and analyze a plethora of data about our donors. How can you leverage it efficiently to find your prospects, deepen your relationship with them and upgrade their giving? Whether you're a one person shop or large organization, you'll walk away with insights to uncover your hidden gems and grow them into major gifts.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this session, participants will learn:
  • The 3 core types of data for prospecting (giving, marketplace and observational)
  • The low hanging fruit of basic prospecting strategies and approaches for small shops
  • How digital tools like video can dramatically enhance prospecting
  • The myth of the giving pyramid and critical insights into midlevel donors

Target Audience:
This presentation will be tailored to reach all audiences with low cost, low tech tips for small shops and sophisticated technology tips for larger organizations that are more advanced.

2015 Conference - Changing Lanes: Adapting, Reacting, Navigating

Boston University's School of Visual Arts at the College of Fine Arts is proud to host the 43rd annual conference of the National Council of Arts Administrators.  We, as well as the city of Boston, welcome you to our vibrant, cultural city and hope you enjoy your stay with us. While in Boston you can experience the wide array of cultural activities available, and get to know our historical and cosmopolitan city.

The conference, "Changing Lanes: Adapting, Reacting, Navigating," references not only the notorious driving habits of Massachusetts residents, but the educational challenges and innovative opportunities academic institutions face today. With over 53 institutions of higher education in Metropolitan Boston, we are at the epicenter of discussions concerning the future of education in our nation. Boston University, the newest member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), is a key voice in this conversation.

It is fitting to convene this conference in a place which discusses not only new trends, concerns, and twists in contemporary higher education, but ponders the ability to implement creative ideas through change. By adapting, reacting, and navigating, we can avoid roadblocks to change, and through flexibility, we can build a world around new ideas.

What will this future look like?  How do we lead? Can we be better advocates for our faculty and students, and our craft? Through discussion and divergent thinking, we will explore lots of possible answers and lots of possible directions.

We welcome all of you to partake in the discussion, meet old and new friends, and share in the dialogue that will shape our future!
