Manager of Membership

Status: Exempt

Supervises:     Development Coordinator

Summary:

The Manager of Membership is responsible for developing and maintaining the Kimmel Center’s Individual Membership Program from $.01-$2,500 and oversight of all Membership Services. S/he will create strategy and execute fundraising plans for sustaining and growing the number of members and annual donors as well as increasing the size of individual donations.  The Manager of Membership will oversee all aspects of the donor database as it relates to Annual Individual Membership.

Essential Functions:

Membership Program Administration

Oversees and manages all aspects of the Annual Individual Membership campaign as it relates to the $1-$2,500 giving levels and provides membership services and support for all levels of giving, including the Founders Circle ($2,500+)
Plans and implements Membership renewal, direct mail and telefundraising campaigns, with the goal of expanding the current base of support and increasing the size of donations
Maintains prospect and donor database as it relates to the Annual Individual Membership campaign
Provides high level of service and engagement with donors and members as needed
Prepares written materials including solicitation and stewardship materials 
Serves as Kimmel Center representative at Membership functions and other events
Serves as Kimmel Center representative at Regional Membership Roundtable

Membership Services

Develops a thorough understanding of protocols and procedures for system data entry.  Understands IRS and FASB rules governing donations and applies that understanding to supervise gift processing and acknowledgement of all standardized philanthropic contributions
Trains Development staff on protocols and procedures, providing routine instruction to others who need to enter, retrieve or complete simple database tasks
Works with Senior Director of Strategy and Development to identify and analyze database segments
Submits requests for information retrievals to the IT Department including monthly renewals and lapsed donor lists
Oversees the production of all mailing lists from Tessitura for membership and special event needs
Prepares pledge reminders for all giving campaigns on a monthly and quarterly basis
Works with Finance Department to reconcile transactions on an ad-hoc basis
Coordinates donor communications relating to contributions, outstanding issues, donor requests and/or complaints
Manages the production process of all print and electronic Membership and Founders Circle materials, including information for the Kimmel Center’s website and online purchase path
Serves as the gift processing/acknowledgement backup for the Development Coordinator
Manages and maintains all permanent recognition programs and Showcase listings
Designated Department Representative on various Kimmel Center committees to provide information and ensure that the Department’s position on issues is conveyed as required
Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

BS/BA degree required
Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in fundraising, development services or donor relations required 
Professional experience with relational databases and constituent data management required
Understanding of protocol and familiarity with performing arts organizations preferred

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent writing, speaking and interpersonal skills
Strong time management skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and integrity a must
Strong analytical skills
Flexibility and patience a must, reflecting a customer-service orientation
Outstanding planning skills, including ability to anticipate problems and plan effectively to prevent them
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues in Development and other departments including Marketing, Programming and IT, among others
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Fundraising database required; Tessitura experience a plus

Environment, Physical Demands and other conditions:

Office Environment
Must be available to work some nights/weekends for performances and events
