Museums Advocacy Day

We are stronger when we speak with one voice, and Museums Advocacy Day is the perfect opportunity to make a unified case to Congress in support of museums.

“Now in its fifth year, I continue to hear about the profound impact of Museums Advocacy Day from advocates around the country,” said Alliance President Ford W. Bell.

  • 92% of past participants have said Museums Advocacy Day was a good use of their time.
  • 76% said they were a more effective advocate for museums after participating in Museums Advocacy Day.

"There are so many key issues in play; the new Congress will consider massive cuts to numerous programs and charitable giving incentives are in serious danger of being rolled back," said Bell. "With so much at stake right now, museums must make a strong, unified case to Congress."

Just a few weeks after Inauguration Day and the start of the 113th Congress, come for a day of programming geared toward your level of advocacy experience, then visit Congressional offices with colleagues from your community.  We set up your Capitol Hill meetings for you, and give you talking points and pointers on how best to make the case.

The entire museum field - staff, students, board members, volunteers, supporters and independent professionals who work for and with museums - is encouraged to join us in Washington, DC.
