November 17, 2010 - 4:30am
Many arts and cultural organizations want to develop arts education programs that provide a deeper artistic experience and have more impact on the young people they serve. This discussion will share a process for you to use to examine what in-depth arts education programs could look like for your organization.
- What is the range of arts education programs that you can adapt for your organization– from discipline-based training to integration with school curriculum to promoting social justice?
- How can your education programs connect with your artistic mission?
- Who is the best audience for your education programs?
- What are the opportunities and challenges when planning in-school and/or out-of-school programs?
- How do you connect with potential partners including teaching artists, host sites, schools, and communities?
You will hear from three different organizations representing a range of arts education strategies, including Miro Dance Theatre, Philadelphia Young Playwrights, and Spiral Q Puppet Theatre.
Who Should Attend?
- Arts and cultural organizations without existing arts education programs that are interested in starting education programs
- Arts and cultural organizations that want to expand their existing arts education programs to provide more in-depth programs than they are currently providing
- Anyone wishing to better connect their arts education programs with their artistic mission and with communities
