 The Voice Foundation's annual Voices of Summer Gala will take place on Friday, May 31st at 6:00 p.m. at the Westin Philadelphia. The black-tie event will include the presentation of the Raymond and Beverly Sackler Award to New Orleans music legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Dr. John. Also honored with this award will be someone we know as“Eddie” from Boardwalk Empire, but who is also a character tenor with more than 600 Metropolitan Opera performances to his credit: Anthony Laciura. The Voice Education Research Awareness (VERA) Award will be awarded to Vy Higginsen, radio personality and producer of Gospel for Teens (see the three-part special on CBS’s 60 Minutes) and to Susanne Mentzer Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano. The Gospel for Teens group will perform at the Voices of Summer Gala.
