The new app, available for iPhone and Android, gives teens access to 21 museums across Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA – April 6, 2018 – Today the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance and MilkCrate are pleased to announce the launch of the new STAMP by MilkCrate mobile app, which provides Philadelphia teens with free access to 21 different museums throughout the city.
STAMP by MilkCrate is the next iteration of the Cultural Alliance’s teen arts and culture program STAMP, which Philadelphia teens can use to discover museums and other cultural sites in the city. Teens using the STAMP by MilkCrate app will earn points for their check-ins, which allow individual teens, groups of friends or entire schools to compete for prizes.
“The Cultural Alliance and its STAMP program are an ideal client for us and helped us expand our product’s applications to new impactful use cases including nonprofit engagement and impact tracking,” says Morgan Berman, CEO of MilkCrate. “It’s great to be a core solution to their program’s needs: helping teens gain access to museums across the city. We’re excited to launch the STAMP app and for the Cultural Alliance to have real-time access to key metrics and data about how teens experience arts and culture in Philadelphia.”
The partnership between the Cultural Alliance and MilkCrate was engineered by Ajay Raju, Chairman and CEO of law firm Dilworth Paxson. “As both a supporter of the Cultural Alliance and a fan of MilkCrate’s vision and its dynamic leadership, it was natural for me to suggest that MilkCrate should build the platform to digitize student experience for the Cultural Alliance’s STAMP program,” says Raju. “MilkCrate’s commitment to building tools for impact is second to none, and the partnership between the Cultural Alliance and MilkCrate will yield exponential returns for our region.”
STAMP (Students in Museums in Philadelphia) has given teens ages 14-19 free access to museums throughout Philadelphia since 2013. The goal of the new app is to give even more teens access to more museums and cultural experience throughout the city. According to a 2015 Pew Research Center study, 73 percent of teenagers have access to a smartphone. Teens who don’t have access to a smartphone can request a PDF pass from the STAMP website that they can print or request to have mailed to them from the Cultural Alliance.
“Working with MilkCrate has been rewarding from the beginning. Morgan and the MilkCrate team understand the value of the STAMP program and worked closely with us to make sure the new app would appeal to teens,” says Michael Norris, Chief Strategy Officer at the Cultural Alliance. “The new app will not only allow us to reach even more Philadelphia teens and give them access to museums across the city, but will also allow us to expand the program to include more arts and culture events that had been impossible for us to include in the program.”
“Having a centralized place to look for cool arts and culture events around the city is going to be great,” says Jamie Razler, Central High School senior and STAMP teen council member. “The STAMP app makes it so easy for me to find something interesting to do in my free time, and features like the leaderboard will make for fun competition with my friends. I can't wait to spend the summer exploring what more the STAMP museums have to offer through the STAMP app.”
To download the app, teens can search “STAMP by MilkCrate” in the Android or iPhone store and use code “PHLSTAMP” or visit www.phillystamppass.org/sign-up.
