Pennsylvania Humanities Council announces the launch of SpeakEasy, a humanities networking mix and mingle series that will take place throughout 2013 at various locations across the state.
The first SpeakEasy on June 6, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, at New Century Trust, a National Historic Landmark in Women's History located at 1307 Locust Street, in Philadelphia. Take a tour of New Century Trust and learn about its place in women's history.
Light hors d'oeuvres, beer, wine and soft drink beverages will be provided.

Plumbing and Wiring: Should I Start a Nonprofit, or Something Else? (Part 2)
The second part of our two-part workshop will focus on defining steps for implementing your corporate path, whether for-profit or nonprofit. A group presentation will continue down the paths discussed in Part 1, but newcomers are welcome and the first part is in no way mandatory. Here we will review the process of incorporation, and how you may apply for licenses, permissions, and certifications, such as B-Corp Certification (if for-profit) or tax exemption (if non-profit). We will also review the various regulatory and compliance procedures and costs that are necessary to maintain various kinds of corporations. This session will be led by Morgen Cheshire, Esq., and other attorneys with experience in forming nonprofit corporations and other business organizations.
Participation in both Part 1 (above) and Part 2 is not mandatory, but this workshop is designed with the assumption that individual session participants will sign up for 1:1 slots for both parts. Participation in the two group presentations Group Information Sessions does not require participation in individual sessions.
