The festival showcases hundreds of artists and organizations—including Cultural Alliance members like The Colored Girls Museum, presenting “Say It Loud, I’m Black, and I’m Proud.”

In a new guest commentary for The Philadelphia Citizen, Cultural Alliance President & CEO Patricia Wilson Aden makes the case for stronger, sustained public investment in Philadelphia’s arts and culture sector. Building on Larry Platt’s recent column (opens in new tab), Aden looks to models in Pittsburgh and New York and explores how reliable funding can help cultural organizations retain workers, strengthen programming, and plan for the future. You’re Invited: cultural master plan webinar for arts & cultural organizations & businesses

Philadelphia now has a draft of its first Cultural Master Plan, which plans to reimagine how arts, culture, and creativity power our neighborhoods, workforce, and civic future. Pulling inspiration and findings from the  Cultural Alliance’s Cultural Dynamics report (opens in new tab) which included data from Community Conversations, the plan will help guide how our city invests in arts and culture for years to come.

Creative organizations and businesses are invited to join one of two 90-minute virtual sessions to learn about the plan’s four core policies and share feedback before it is finalized. Can’t attend the webinar? Register anyway to receive the recording and input questions.

The Cultural Alliance has launched its new Membership Access Initiative, making membership more affordable and accessible for small, neighborhood-based, BIPOC-led, and BIPOC-serving organizations across Greater Philadelphia. The Greater PHiladelphia Cultural Alliance awards $150,000 t0 75 creative entrepreneurs in last round of the creative entrepreneur accelerator (CEA) Program

The Cultural Alliance has awarded $150,000 to 75 local creative entrepreneurs through the final round of the Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator. Since 2021, the program has supported 359 entrepreneurs with more than $700,000 in funding, helping creative businesses across Greater Philadelphia grow, innovate, and thrive. PA Creative Industries, along with Bridgeway Capital, will continue the Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator program in a new, centralized structure through Keystone Creatives (opens in new tab). Bloomberg arts internship (BAI) Celebrates Its Largest Intern Cohort Yet

This summer, 100 Bloomberg Arts Internship (BAI) students gained hands-on experience at 49 arts and culture organizations across Philadelphia—from longtime partners to new worksites like the Fabric Workshop. The program culminated at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, where interns shared reflections on their summer experiences. And the journey continues: 50 interns will participate in the Bloomberg Arts Internship School Year (BAI:SY) program, building on their skills, creativity, and connections throughout the year.

The new tool features events from about two dozen Cultural Alliance members, offering another great way to explore—and support—the organizations bringing our region’s arts and culture scene to life.

BY THE NUMBERS

New research from SMU DataArts (opens in new tab) comparing arts and culture sectors across 10 U.S. cities found that Philadelphia experienced the steepest decline in local arts funding per capita from 2019 to 2024—and its cultural organizations made the largest workforce cuts. Across the study, cities with higher or growing public investment generally saw stronger financial and attendance outcomes.

The findings helped fuel a recent conversation in The Philadelphia Citizen (opens in new tab) about the urgency of investing in Philadelphia’s cultural sector. For the Cultural Alliance, data like this strengthens our case for sustained public investment and helps us equip and mobilize the sector to advocate for the resources arts and culture need to thrive.

    Standing on the shoulders of elders who fought for women’s rights, ANNA Crusis is furthering feminism and music to incite social change into the future. The longest-running feminist women’s choir in the United States, founded in 1975, ANNA’s current membership embraces diversity of age, ethnicity and gender identity. Their musical repertoire reflects the rich spectrum of human lives and struggles, shedding light on issues facing immigrants and refugees, young people, women, the LGBTQ+ community, and others.     The Mission of Acting Without Boundaries (AWB) is to transform lives and build self-esteem in an empowered community of people with physical disabilities, through theater that celebrates ability. Through their five performing arts and disability awareness programs, AWB Juniors, AWB Seniors, AWB Melodies, AWB Masters and AWB Acting Lab, participants discover how to take risks and learn from mistakes in a safe environment which is free from judgement.     PhillyCAM is a community media center that operates the City of Philadelphia’s public access cable television channel and is the license holder of the low power FM radio station WPPM 106.5 FM.  PhillyCAM is a facilitator, creator, aggregator, and distributor of hyper local media that reflects Philadelphia’s cultural diversity.  We are the only regional non-commercial media outlet devoted entirely to the teaching, creation and distribution of locally-produced media content on cable television, online and on FM radio.  

    Our mission is to bring together the people of Philadelphia to make and share media that promotes creative expression, democratic values and civic participation. Anyone who lives or works in the greater Philadelphia region can become a PhillyCAM member and receive free to low cost access to video and audio production training and distribute non-commercial content on our platforms.
