Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance’s Phillyfunguide Presents “Arts + Culture To Go,” a New Resource Highlighting Its Members’ Virtual and Online Experiences
With museums, theaters, galleries, performances, and programs closed due to COVID-19, “Arts + Culture To Go” offers a single online resource for audiences to find – and access – the arts from home.
April 22, 2020 (PHILADELPHIA, PA) – The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance (GPCA), today announced the launch of “Arts + Culture To Go,” a new, curated resource available to the public through its popular Phillyfunguide. With stay-at-home orders and social distancing measures remaining in place due to Coronavirus, GPCA is working closely with its more than 450 members to create a comprehensive listing of all virtual and online arts and culture experiences available to the public. “Arts + Culture To Go” serves as a one-stop source for audiences to find virtual concerts, performances, art exhibitions, classes, field trips and more during this time when arts and culture institutions are physically closed.
“Arts and culture are essential to our humanity, driving social connection and shared experience,” said Maud Lyon, President, GPCA. “Just because our museums, theaters and galleries are darkened right now does not mean that arts and culture cannot still be enjoyed, especially in our region, which is so rich with it. Through the engagement of our innovative, nimble members, we have leveraged the Phillyfunguide to meet the current needs of our audiences with ‘Arts + Culture To Go.’ From virtual tours to Facebook Live events to live stream dance classes, we are showcasing all the ways our arts and culture organizations thrive ‘outside their walls’ and deliver on their missions of bringing art, music, dance, and theater to the Philadelphia region and beyond.”
While built to be comprehensive in nature, “Arts + Culture To Go” can also be quickly aggregated into “bite-sized” categories for different audiences and desired experiences. From the “Kids Menu,” which provides programs for little artists, to “Lunch & Learn” with classes, seminars and lectures, to “Community Table,” which focuses on connection and collaboration from home, this online hub is meant to be an active, evolving resource for audiences who want to engage arts and culture during this unprecedented time.
Said Lyon, “‘Arts + Culture To Go’ makes it easy for people to find entertaining, uplifting, and fascinating content offered by a wide range of arts and culture organizations. Art is essential for everyone, especially now. ‘Arts + Culture To Go’ is a tool that will benefit the public and our member cultural organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic – and after – as virtual and online experiences continue to be sought after.”
“Arts + Culture To Go” will be updated on a rolling basis as member organizations add new programs. To view the menu offerings of “Arts + Culture To Go,” please visit: https://phillyfunguide.com/togo.
