Vocal Coach / Accompanist

The Musical Theater program at the Ira Brind School of Theater Arts at the University of the Arts seeks a skilled, engaging, and organized Vocal Coach/Accompanist to join our musical theater faculty beginning Fall 2019.

Job responsibilities include: 

  • Providing Musical Theater majors song coaching that covers repertoire from both voice lessons and performance
  • Accompanying Musical Theater Performance courses
  • Supporting the development of aspiring young performers 

The successful candidate should be a skilled pianist (ideally with a degree in music, musical theater, or its equivalent) and possess the technical knowledge and pedagogical skills to coach students in a wide variety of Musical Theatre styles. Experience in music direction is a plus.

Located prominently on the Avenue of the Arts in Center City, Philadelphia, The University of the Arts is one of the oldest and largest comprehensive private institutions of higher education centered in the arts in the United States. The University of the Arts Musical Theater program is home of the Polyphone Festival, which produces four new and emerging musicals each spring. Brind School students specialize in new musical development, and are known for being versatile, cutting-edge citizen-artists.
