Position: PFF28 Technical Advisor | 28th Philadelphia Film Festival (October 17-27, 2019)

Department: Venues & Operations / Programming

Intern Summary: The Philadelphia Film Festival (PFF) is an 11-day international film festival that screens over 100 films and hosts special events, Q&As, and industry guests.   

The Festival Technical Advisor works closely with both the Venue/Projection Team and Programming Team to ensure the all film prints are formatted properly and prepared to be delivered to Festival venues, maintaining records and troubleshooting files as needed. 




  • Research and suggest technology for purchase
  • Maintain open communication with Programming and Print Trafficking teams; remain updated on status of prints
  • Monitor Print Trafficking docs to remain updated on all related changes and updates
  • Collect and track keys, communication receipt and open/close dates to Programming and Venue/Projection
  • Work with venue staff to test films and ensure that they play properly
  • Act as a resource to Programming and Print Trafficking team on tech-related matters
  • Create DCPs as needed
  • Troubleshoot files and drives; and find solutions as needed
  • Notify Programming and Print Trafficking Teams if replacement files/drives or back ups are required
  • Maintain communication with venue/projection staff, ensuring the timely delivery & ingestion of drives and files
  • Alert Venue/Projection Team and Programming/Print Trafficking to any pressure points or issues



  • Assist in teching shows at rental venues, day-of
  • Act as a resource to Venue Staff on tech-related matters
  • Remain available to troubleshoot last minute issues
  • Create replacement DCPs as needed
  • Attend Festival Meetings and remain updated on Festival changes



  • Assist Programming/Print Trafficking team with shipping out prints
  • Assess PFF28 Tech and suggest improvements for PFF29


Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Great communication skills and an eye for detail
  • Knowledge of video formats and DCP creation
  • Familiarity with cinematic exhibition
  • Festival experience a plus
  • Ability to multi-task, follow instructions and work independently
  • Familiarity and comfort with PC, MAC & Linux Operating Systems and Hard drive Formatting
  • Proficient in Google Docs and Microsoft Office


Time Requirements

  • September-November, 2019
  • Full availability October 17-27, 2019
  • Pre-Festival: Time as needed; at minimum 2 days in office
