Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts

The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) is currently seeking an Admissions Counselor. Reporting to the Dean of Enrollment, this position is an integral part of the admissions and financial aid team, assisting in the recruitment, selection and enrollment of undergraduate students.

The Admissions Counselor will cultivate prospective students through a number of avenues, including conducting portfolio reviews, answering inquiries, interviewing prospective students, traveling to assigned schools and territories, participating in national recruiting activities such as National Portfolio Days, and providing tours of PAFA’s facilities.

In consultation with the Dean of Enrollment, the Admissions Counselor will primarily be responsible for managing ongoing strategic communications with teachers and counselors, including email, print, and other media, and plan and implement recruitment activities. He/she will prepare and assist in the evaluation of applications in the admissions review meetings. He/she will participate in the planning and hosting of all admissions and financial aid special events, including Open Houses, Portfolio Days and new student events. It is expected that he/she will manage small- and large-scale projects as assigned.

Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor of Fine Arts or equivalent degree. Applicants must have a strong knowledge of the visual and fine arts, at least one year of related experience, preferably in admissions or recruiting. Applicants should have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel, as this position requires extensive travel throughout the fall recruiting period. Desired applicants will have a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and excellent written, interpersonal, and public speaking skills. Prior experience with an institutional database is preferred. Applicants must be flexible, with the ability to work independently as well exhibit a commitment to teamwork and fulfillment of organization goals.
