Financial and Compliance Officer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in the creation, monitoring, and reporting of advancement-related budgets, grants, and donations.
  • Generate donor and grant-related financial reports, fundraising reports, and donor lists for fundraising activities.
  • Support forecasting and cost analysis for campaigns, staffing, and events.
  • Manage donation tracking
  • Manage CRM database
  • Manage payroll system, including off-boarding and on-boarding employees.
  • Serve as liaison between the organization and regulatory agencies and inspectors.
  • Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. This includes maintaining tax-exempt status, filing necessary reports, following fundraising laws, and adhering to governance policies. 
  • Ensure compliance with IRS regulations for 501(c)(3) status, state fundraising laws, and grant requirements.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; CPA or nonprofit finance certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of financial experience in a nonprofit or educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and fund accounting.
  • Experience preparing financial reports for grants and donors.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, CRM Software and Microsoft Excel. The Foundation currently uses QuickBooks and Raiser’s Edge.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to transparency, compliance, and the mission of Russell Byers Charter School.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Part time position, hours not to exceed 15 per week.

COMPENSATION:
Commensurate with experience.

The Byerschool Foundation is a non-profit 501c3 organization whose mission is to provide financial support and guidance to the Russell Byers Charter School

The Financial Officer reports to the director of advancement. This individual provides financial oversight and reporting for advancement activities. This position tracks funding streams, monitors donor-related revenue, and ensures compliance with financial protocols.
