Director, Integrated Brand Content and Storytelling

Director, Integrated Brand Content & Storytelling

Why this role exists: This role exists to tell the Museum’s story—clearly, creatively, and consistently—far beyond its walls. The Director leads how the Museum shows up in the world through words, visuals, video, and editorial judgment, shaping content that enhances relevancy, drives visitation, and brings the mission of learning through play to life. This is a higher-level, hands-on role for someone who can think like an editor, create like a producer, and lead with strong creative instincts.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead The Story: Set the editorial vision and content strategy for digital, video, and audio assets across owned, earned, shared, and paid channels.
  • Create the Content: Write, edit, and produce original short- and long-form content. Independently concept, shoot, edit, and deliver video/multimedia content that impacts SEO and AI-driven discovery.
  • Production Management: Establish and maintain a new in-house production studio and manage the inventory of all produced assets.
  • Editorial Oversight: Review content from internal teams and partners to ensure editorial standards, voice, and accessibility. Manage workflows from idea through publication.
  • Collaborate & Lead: Partner with teams across the Museum (Learning, Exhibits, Fundraising) to surface stories. Serve as a key creative partner to PR agencies and lead the build-out of the content department.
  • Think Big, Then Measure: Use data and SEO/AEO insights to identify storytelling opportunities that support revenue, visibility, and community engagement.

What You Bring:

  • Experience: 8+ years creating/overseeing digital, written, and video content. Bachelor’s degree in digital media, marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Production Skills: Highly proficient in the full content lifecycle (scripting, storyboarding, videography, and editing) and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strategic Mindset: Proven success in developing data-informed, multi-platform content strategies; working knowledge of AI tools for creative development and SEO/AEO ecosystems.
  • Leadership: Experience leading freelancers, agencies, and direct reports with a collaborative, "roll-up-your-sleeves" mindset.
  • Communication: Excellent written/verbal skills (AP style preferred) and the ability to persuasively present strategies internally.
  • Adaptability: Available for a schedule that includes occasional evenings/weekends for content capture.
  • Commitment: Demonstrated cultural competency and a commitment to inclusion, belonging, and accessibility.

Requirements:

  • Location: On-site at the Museum in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park.
  • Clearances: Must have PA Act 153 clearances (Criminal, FBI, Child Abuse) and a flu vaccination.
  • Application: Must include a cover letter, resume, and a portfolio/link showcasing led and executed content (writing, video, digital, or storyboards).

Why this Role Matters: Your work will define how the Museum is seen, heard, and remembered. You’ll help translate joyful, playful learning into stories that inspire families, funders, partners, and the broader community—while ensuring the content is thoughtful, inclusive, and built to last.
